Turning heads for different reasons…
VISUALLY both classic ice cream vans and modern ice cream vans have there own star power when it comes to drawing crowds. Those of us a bit long in the tooth appreciate the vintage look of a classic ice cream van with its distinct 1960’s frame and vintage style. The younger generation tend to look past the classic ice cream van and be more impressed by the modern fleet which are large with bright paint jobs, flashing lights and pop music playing instead of the traditional Greensleeves jingle.
EFFICIENCY is where a classic ice cream van struggles to match its modern rival but it’s mainly down to size. A classic ice cream van can quite easily keep up while casually serving soft serve ice cream to residents while pottering up and down the road. But when it comes to serving at a busy event, the modern van can carry more weight meaning larger generators and ice cream machines than the classic ice cream van. The classic ice cream van struggles to match this requirement.
PROUDLY the classic ice cream van is still serving ice cream around Australia while punching outside of its weight class against the modern ice cream van. While we are seeing less classic ice cream vans around each year, it is always a thrill to see one for people who would like a throw back to the 1960’s classic ice cream van days.
